Remembering to drink enough water during the day can be challenging, especially if you have a busy schedule. In a video by Dr. Gregor, he calls water the “number one nutrient in our diet.” The effects of dehydration on our brain can include fatigue, lack of mental clarity, and mood changes. Fortunately, however, there are tricks to help you stay hydrated. Naturally enhancing your water, without adding sugar, is a great way to encourage yourself to stay hydrated throughout the day.

Try keeping a pitcher or water bottle nearby with some of these water-enhancing ideas:

Flavor your water with fruit. Soak berries, citrus, melons, or pineapple in a pitcher for a subtle but nice flavor.

Try fresh herbs, in combination with fruit, or by themselves. Mint, basil, sage, rosemary, tarragon, thyme, or lavender are all good options.

Try this Minty Cucumber Lime recipe. Or this Strawberry-Lemon with Basil combination.

Soak your water with a few leaves of edible, pesticide-free flower petals from roses, lavender, citrus blossoms, hibiscus, pansies, or violets.

Spice up your water with cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, fresh ginger, cloves, or vanilla beans.
