"7 years ago I was have trouble when running (I've always been a runner and have run 5 marathons). I went to my doctor who sent me to the hospital for an angiogram. Turns out I had one artery that was 80% blocked. I received 2 stents in 2 different arteries and was put on cholesterol medication, blood thinners, high blood pressure medicine and a baby aspirin. I always thought I ate well so I didn't understand how this could happen. Unfortunately what I thought was a good diet was pretty bad...
So you have watched the videos and documentaries and are now excited to change over to a plant-based diet and experience for yourself the amazing health benefits! The only problem is that you are the only person in your household who wants to make this change. If this is your situation, realize that you are not alone.
Picture this: you’ve just gotten home from a long day. You have family members who need you, friends you want to catch up with, or maybe a favorite tv show you’ve been looking forward to. Plus, you have to make dinner or maybe plan for tomorrow’s meals and you wonder how to fit it all in.
As someone who loves food and loves to eat, one of my favorite things about eating a whole food, plant-based diet is that nearly all of the foods that I can eat have a lower calorie density than their animal-based or processed counterparts. This basically means that I can eat more volume and still be eating fewer calories - a win in my book!
Snacks should be quick, easy, and convenient. There are so many healthy snacks to choose from such as fresh fruit and cut veggies, baked tortilla chips, bean dips, salsas, whole grain and low-fat crackers, and oil-free popcorn. If we shift our “snacking mindset,” we discover that it can also be cheap and easy to incorporate healthier whole foods as snacks.

Ever since I was a kid, one of my favorite things to do has been traveling by plane. I’ve always been fascinated with the speed at which you can reach your destination and all the places you can go. When I was younger, in my pre plant-based days, a trip to the airport meant a chance to “treat” myself to some greasy fast food that I knew wasn’t good for me, but that I ate and enjoyed anyway.
