woody harrelson
Jeff Sandborn lived a pretty average lifestyle following the motto “everything in moderation”. That is why he was surprised to find himself being flown by helicopter to a hospital at the age of 46, where doctors put two stents in him. He was only slightly overweight (35 - 40 lbs), had only slightly high LDL (112-118 mg/dL), and ate everything in moderation. The surgery definitely got his attention and he began making small improvements with his eating habits. Fast forward 2 ½ years and Jeff found himself only slightly healthier.
A Testimonial From PlantPure Challenge Winner Nancy Matthews
"Hi! My name is Nancy Mathews, and I’m 53 years young. I’ve been whole food plant based since March 1st, 2012. My journey began when I gained 60 pounds after quitting smoking. One addiction led to another. I ate everything not nailed down. I was also 40 pounds +/- overweight when I quit smoking. I felt terrible, I was short of breath, out of shape, all my joints hurt plus I was starting the menopause journey...
A Testimonial From PlantPure Challenge Winner Pauline Samual
"My name is Pauline Sumual and I am 22 years old currently residing in Chicago, IL. About a month ago I was watching a number of documentaries on Netflix associated with American's daily consumption of food and what they put in their bodies. One of them was PlantPure Nation. Throughout my college years I've done a number of research on politics and the correlation between the politicians and their voters. I did not realize the role of corporations in the political world. After watching these documentaries they all started to make sense...
Navigating the Social Scene
When first becoming a plant-based eater, the idea of socializing during a meal can be daunting. If done with a little forethought, it can be just as relaxing and enjoyable as always. Two strategies to keep i
Annette Fowler's Plant-Based Transformation Story
"My name is Annette Fowler. I have struggled with my weight from the age of 13. I was led to believe that an obese life was my destiny. With that belief, I never truly tried to lose weight, as I thought it was not a possibility for me. I spent my teen years steadily growing through the high 100s. The last weight I remember being was 167lbs when I was in grade 10. After that, I never really weighed myself unless I went to the Dr's, and even then, the weight was recorded and never mentioned...
Building School Lunches
Building school lunches was an important task when getting our kids off to school. As busy working parents, we came up with a variety of simple ideas that were quick and easy to put together. Eventually the kids took over and have since reminded me of the ‘formula’ I used when teaching them to build their own lunches.
Snacking in The Workplace
Snacking is a common habit that almost everybody does. Is it healthy? Yes! The trick is keeping our snacks healthy and plant-based. We often reach for things like chips, cookies, crackers, and even candy.
One is the Loneliest Number!
So you have watched the videos and documentaries and are now excited to change over to a plant-based diet and experience for yourself the amazing health benefits! The only problem is that you are the only person in your household who wants to make this change. If this is your situation, realize that you are not alone.
Top 5 Convenient Plant-Based Foods
Picture this: you’ve just gotten home from a long day. You have family members who need you, friends you want to catch up with, or maybe a favorite tv show you’ve been looking forward to. Plus, you have to make dinner or maybe plan for tomorrow’s meals and you wonder how to fit it all in.
Foods to Keep You Full
As someone who loves food and loves to eat, one of my favorite things about eating a whole food, plant-based diet is that nearly all of the foods that I can eat have a lower calorie density than their animal-based or processed counterparts. This basically means that I can eat more volume and still be eating fewer calories - a win in my book!
